The hormonal coil

The hormonal coil (LNG- IUD) is a small t- shaped plastic device that releases progestogen.

Did you know this can also be used as part of hormone replacement therapy HRTt for menopause symptoms and can be used to lighten periods!

  • More than 99% effective
  • Lasts up to 8 years
  • Is safe to use whilst breastfeeding

The implant

The implant is a small plastic tube that is about 4cm long and is inserted under the skin in your upper arm. It releases progestogen to prevent pregnancy.

  • Replaced every 3 years
  • More than 99% effective
  • Is safe to use whilst breastfeeding

The copper coil

The copper coil (Cu- IUDs) is a small t- shaped plastic device that releases copper to prevent pregnancy.

  • More than 99% effective
  • Lasts for 5 to 10 years
  • Is safe to use whilst breastfeeding
